We are a new organization consisting of community members, established in January of 2023. Our purpose is to bring together people of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
Our work throughout Venango County and beyond will utilize various educational events, marketing, community activities and structured open discussions to explore ways to understand and bridge the racial divide that currently separates us. We will embark on dialogues that may necessitate facing uncomfortable truths or viewpoints. But instead of promising friendships, we aim to foster acceptance of each other’s differences as we strive to understand that what unites us is greater than what divides us. While our main goal is understanding and acceptance developing, friendships would certainly be welcomed!
Diversity is any dimension that can be used to differentiate groups and people from one another. In a nutshell, it’s about empowering people by respecting and appreciating what makes them different.
The term “equity” refers to fairness and justice and is distinguished from equality: Whereas equality means providing the same to all, equity means recognizing that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to imbalances.
The practice or policy of including and integrating all people and groups in activities, organizations, political processes, etc., especially those who are disadvantaged, have suffered discrimination, or are living with disabilities.
